I just meet my wife’s former co-employee. I learn that her husband is spending $100 (PhP 4,500) for a 30-minute call whenever he is on port. What? That’s $3.33 per minute or PhP 150 per minute! Hey, there’s much cheaper option - use the PSTN Access Numbers! it’s present in 37 countries in cities like Rio de Janiero, Buenos Aires, Johannesburg, Santiago, Paphos (Cyprus), Brussels, Dublin, Rome, Yokohama, and many more.
Upon disembarking at the port of destination, call the access number from any payphone or buy a local SIM card. LOCAL CALL - that’s YOUR ONLY COST to call the MagicBox in the Philippines.
For MagicJack users, most likely … you will make a long-distance call. Since the MagicJack phone number is fixed in one location (e.g. New York), when a seaman disembarks at San Diego, for example, he has to make a long-distance call to New York. Outside USA/Canada, you’re out-of-luck since MagicJack numbers are homed only in USA/Canada. But with MagicBox, there’s an access number available locally.
For this huge savings, the PHP 250 monthly fee (or PhP 1,200 if you include the Internet fee) is more than a bargain, isn’t it?
tks for the info na hindi pala ganoon kadali mag-disembark. pero meron pa ring paraan papaano maka libre tawag - gamit ka nang medyo high-end na cellfon like nokia E51. miy WLAN capability ang E51. pwede MagicBox-to-E51 unlimited free call. mas mura kay sa mag-roaming. maka-kita ka pa rin ng pisgi
hi,, im so much interested in using PSTN Acess numbers. and so using with SIP numbers, calling for free, can you give me the details?.. thanks. hope to hear from you.
Posted by hazel at February 21, 2011, 2:27 pmhi hazel,
in our exchange of email, we’ll work it out how you can make a connection there in bohol. we hv tested this setup using SmartBro in camiguin. but any Internet connection will do except USB wireless internet. the location is far from the cell site. the guy used a satellite TV dish to boost the signal. if ur signal is really weak, that’s a recommended solution. u need to hv technician do it. hmmm … he will be glad - it’s another source of income.
