Free call to the Philippines (or anywhere) from traditional and mobile phones

Thursday, July 7, 2011

Yes you can call your family anytime, anywhere - at home, work, malls, train or car. No computers at all - even in the Philippines!  My sisters in Canada and southern California, both nurses, are using this to call me (in Cebu City).  This is a very simple solution that should work to connect anywhere like the Pacific  (Hawaii, Guam, Marianas, etc.) where long distance calls is quite expensive. There are only two requirements:

  1. Philippines (or anywhere) should have a MagicBox.PH (or any SIP phone)
  2. Callers must click here to locate one of the  200+ Access Numbers in 37 countries* . Save this number!

How my sisters call me?

  1. They dial their local Access Number
  2. After the recorded message, they dial my MagicBox: *462 + 1777xxxxxxx + #
  3. The telephone set attached to my MagicBox rings. That’s it!

Our elder brother in Cagayan de Oro has a MagicBox, too.  He’s reachable 24/7 from my sisters.  No more long-distance between us since MagicBox-to-MagicBox call is unlimited-free anywhere in the world.

MagicBox can be left online 24/7 because it’s a stand-alone unit, no computers needed and consumes only 5 watts.

For the Pacific, it’s cheaper to call Mainland USA using MagicBox - $0.012 vs $0.04 offered by a Guam telephonecompany. I will post more details. You can try using SIP softphone first before investing on MagicBox.PH.

MagicBox can be ordered online at eBay.ph.
